About

As it says on my home page, my name is David Williams and I am a senior at Woodberry Forest School. I am currently working on a “Senior Distinction” project, which allows me to focus all of my time at school on a particular area of interest. For me, that area of interest is astrophotography. My real interest in astronomy began at the beginning of this year, and for the past few months I have been learning everything I could about astrophotography. I like astrophotography because I want help to share our amazing universe with others, and imaging space is one of the best ways to allow others to see what I may say (or even more than I may see) through the eyepiece of a telescope at night. The end goal of my project is to create a portfolio of presentation worthy astrophotos that I can share with the rest of the community, along with a presentation of the long process that went into creating each photo.

Mr. Erik Born has been my faculty mentor on this project, and his insights and dedication have been invaluable to me. I also owe a great deal to Mr. Ted Blain, who is in charge of the Senior Distinction process. Although my Senior Distinction project is astrophotography, my astrophotography will not stop when my project ends and I graduate from Woodberry this spring. I hope it will be a lifelong hobby or possibly someday even a career.
